Design for learning and leadership
The Design for Learning Model has been developed as a wholistic approach to professional development, where teachers working collaboratively, form the ‘design team’. Teachers are encouraged to re-imagine their role, from a technician delivering content, to becoming designers of learning.
Learning Design Principles
At the strategic level, there are over-arching design principles that have shaped the project. Here we are drilling down into shared principles that align the users in the space. They co-create a set of principles that are memorable, that guide decision-making and are broadly applicable.
Coaching & Mentoring
Team leaders are critical to the ongoing success of maintaining the vision and growing teacher capacity. They are the linchpin, the conduit of information flow. Developing capacity at the middle-leader level is critical to embed the culture and support transformation.
Design for the Long Haul – Workshop
This suite of modules is aimed at equipping and supporting teachers to plan and implement future-focused approaches to learning. The modules are interactive and hands-on, employing professional learning principles which correlate with effective student learning: collaborative, inquiry-focused and addressing authentic professional problem.

Review, refine and test effectiveness of the design process.
How? Workshops cover the key elements of the Learning Design Model. Each are 90 minutes in duration and can be offered:
- Two days – 6x Modules
- One day – 3x Modules
- Flexibly to address identified priorities.
Who? The workshops are adaptable for intensives for change agents to whole staff development days
Then what? Follow up coaching for teaching teams or team leaders will help to embed innovative practices in your school or learning organisation.
- Educators – teachers/teaching teams as designers of engaging learning
- Leadership and Administrators – utilising the process to design engaging professional learning
- Architects and Designers – understand the context of students and employ principles of learning design.
