Workshop: Culture + Learning + Design

Purpose – To inform, engage and provide hands-on learning focused on employing processes to:

  • develop empathy for the learner
  • design engaging learning
  • shape the space that is the context for engaging learning

Session may include:
1. Understanding the context, drivers and challenges of today’s learners
2. Empathy mapping students through a user experience approach
3. Identifying the thinking and practice of educators today
4. Design learning utilising an inquiry-based process
5. Consider learning modalities and zones to support engaged learning
6. Design a space to meet the brief

Participants:
Educators – teachers/teaching teams as designers of engaging learning

Leadership and Administrators – utilising the process to design engaging professional learning

Architects and Designers – understand the context of students and employ principles of learning design.

Workshop: Empathy + Differentiation + Success 

Purpose – To inform, engage and provide hands-on learning focused on employing processes to:

  • develop empathy for the learner
  • understand and define student success – collectively and individually
  • apply student success measures to differentiate learning
  • design engaging learning for student success

Session may include:
1. Understanding the context, drivers and challenges of today’s learners
2. Empathy mapping students through a user experience approach
3. Considering student success and crafting an agreed success statement
4. Articulating success measures to students
5. Design learning utilising an inquiry-based process
6. Applying success measures to critique learning design

Participants:
Educators – Teaching teams

Workshop:  Open Space Workshop/Unconference

Purpose: An opportunity to gather the entire staff or large community group in an ‘un-conference’, where the focus is centred around a problem or question

Question or problem sample:  How might we engage the graduates of 2030, our learners today?

Duration: 1 or 2 days
Participants: 12 – 100
This process of unpacking a problem or question may be utilised in any sector and recognises and applies the corporate knowledge and experience of those present. It is valuable in harnessing a team, staff or other stakeholders in the processes of culture change.

Program: From in an initial input session, the group self generates workshops, working through a concise process and developing ‘next steps’.

Sightlines  This process gives voice to those who may feel that the achievements of the past are being left behind or not valued, and also to those who have a more future-focused disposition. Each is important to gaining insight into present.

Culture Alignment – Vision and values clarification activity provides a road map to guide decision-making. This can be high level values, or a focus on learning-values. This is achieved through a facilitated process.
